Elitech RC-5 Temperature Data Logger, Data Recorder, USB 2.0 Graphic Report, 32000 Points with Internal Sensor

Used it to monitor / log the temperature of food for a vacation. I put it in a Styrofoam box with frozen food travelling from Denmark to Norway (20h). Took it out on arrival and put it aside. Downloaded the drivers a bit later and looked at the results. Only a drop of 5C degree (-15c to -10c).

I would have loved it to have Bluetooth instead of USB, so it could be read via mobile. Also the drivers are a bit hard to find online and it seems like some websites are hosting malicious software under your name. The App Store version for Mac is the way to go. Works great.

Would I buy it again? Yes, i will actually buy a few more for fun experiments and logging.

Would I recommend it? Yes, certainly. Great built quality, fair price, working software.

I bought 2 temperature recorders for us in our local Village Hall in order to monitor the existing heating system. So far, they appear to work very effectively . I like the ability to be able to plug them in to a USB socket and download the data as a graph and as a data file. It is a distinct advantage to programme the measurement intervals. In this way you don't get bogged down with excessive data..

RC5 works like a dream - pretty much perfect.
The user manual, paper and online, is shockingly poor and mostly incomprehensible
The software (for PC) is like something from control room in the 1970. Hardly intuitive, hardly slick.
However, once you dig out a couple of YouTube vids that explain the operation, then it's great.
As an overall experience, it good, but could be SO much better.

The internet led me to believe that I could get this device working with linux (my only OS)
I failed / it failed, so I am disappointed.
The devices (I ordered two, in good faith,) arrived in very good time and in good condition. So if you are running windows or mac, you'll probably be pleased.
If you only use linux, as I do, perhaps just don't buy this thing, as I can't make it work with linux. Maybe you'll have a better experience?
