Elitech RC-5+ USB temperature data logger features a plug-and-play USB port interface and allows for faster access to data collected in any cold chain management process. This could be used in pharmaceuticals, food, life science, cooler boxes, medical cabinets, fresh food cabinets, freezer or laboratories.

Different from the normal USB temperature data logger, the RC-5+ temperature data logger has two types of alarms--single and cumulative alarm.

Its robust and compact design satisfies the dynamic demands in any sensitive storage and transportation system. It records real-time temperature that is stored in non-volatile memory for access via the USB port.

Key feature

  • One external sensor (around 39-inch) and one internal sensor, a wide range of temperature measuring (-40℃~+85℃/-40℉~185℉)
  • Upgraded version of RC-5 with new functions of Auto PDF report (encrypt-able via PC or Android phones); restart logger by pressing the button; double battery life up to 12 months.
  • Built-in USB port, no cable, no reader, even no software required to download data. Low power consumption and battery replaceable; records up to 32,000 points.
  • More features as IP 65 waterproof protection, 5 alarm ranges, ℃/℉ options, Excel/PDF report formats, free software for Windows & macOS and etc.
  • Requires to set the sensor type to "external" on the software for external sensor usage. Please make sure the external sensor cap is tightened to the device when it starts to record data.
  • Plug into a computer or Android phone (required OTG converter), read PDF report easily. Restart by pressing and holding the left button.

RC-5+ TE is the upgraded version of RC-5 and RC-5+:

  • Auto PDF Report: The new-added function allows the data logger to generate a PDF report automatically.
  • Password Protection: Optional password protection will keep your data’s security.
  • Double the Battery Life: RC-5+ is with a battery life up to 12 months (15℃~23℃/45%RH~75%RH), which doubles RC-5 battery life.

Very Good

Just what I was looking for to log a room temperature while away for a few days. Simple to set up and download to my laptop. Software capabilities is fine for my needs. Very pleased with the product. BUT the logger didn't come with the rubber seal on the cap to make it IP67. So not able to use outside, should I want to. I have emailed the company, but still after 7 days, no response from them. I hope they read these reviews !! PS I've had a online chat with them. Hopefully they will send me the rubber seal.

Not perfect but pretty good and much better than other manufacturers/products.

I use these to monitor HWS and CWS pipework on large commercial installations. Generally I am happy with the logger.

I would like to be able to manipulate the software side a little better to get the results I want but currently get what I need almost. I did not have any issues getting the software and others I feel maybe user error and not an issue with the software or loggers.

The excel output is locked so cannot be manipulated for bespoke chart creation.

The date and time is wrong and won't update so trying to get assistance but it takes ages.

The product design and set up capability is good and it is robust.

All in all I am very happy and have already purchased four more.

Poor and Misleading Information

I have only had this for a few days and here are my thoughts

From the Web site descriptions
"Elitech RC-5+ TE PDF USB Temperature Data Logger w/ External Probe -40℃~85℃"
and note it says "Built-in USB port, no cable, no reader, even no software required to download data"

Well, I switched on the device and plugged it into a Windows computer USB port and nothing found on the external (D:) drive, but from the above I expected to find something to configure it with. After a lot of searching on the Web, I do have to download some software for settting it up. It is true once it's configured and recording, the reports are generated without any external software, EXCEPT they are generated by the configuration software previously downloaded.

The battery supplied with the device is a CR2032, which has a normal working temperature range of -20 to +80 deg. C, but the device is specified to work between -40 to +85 deg. C with the external probe, why couldn't it be at least be supplied with a BR2032 which has a better low temperature range of -30 to +85 deg. C. This is annoying and technical support can't tell me which battery they recommend for use at -40 deg .C as they expect only the probe to be exposed to these temperatures and the body near room temperature. Nowhere on the site is this mentioned, but assumed when they give the run times.

I only found out about the battery temperature range after I put it in my freezer (which ranges between -25 and -30 deg. C), I hope I have all my per minute reading when I take it out in a few day's time. I didn't want to just put the probe into the freezer as the door seal was compromised around the probe's cable.

Accurate

Purchased to monitor a swimming pool water temperature in order to save expenditure on gas.

RC-5+TE Great product - Poor Instructions

This device works great but it is let down by the instructions:

Stage 1: Connect it to a computer it says - I did that and literally nothing came up on the display. Eventually I worked out you need to download some software (it doesn't mention that in the instructions) from their website though my computer gave me loads of dire warnings thinking I was trying to download malware (can't Elitech get themselves a certificate?). Once I downloaded the s/w things started to happen...

The RC-5+TE would be even better if it logged the temperature at the probe and also the device temperature - at the moment it's either /or
The date in the Excel download file is not formatted as a date so it doesn't plot properly (if you want to do your own plot with sensible scaling) - you can fix this by converting text to columns in excel and using tab as a delimiter..it just takes time
